Seven days without laughter makes one weak
–Mort Walker
Are the moments few or many when you feel uptight, burdened and drained by the demands of others? On the other hand, how often do you tilt your head back and gush out whooping bouts of laughter from your belly toward the skies? What a release is laughter—the spasmodic eruption of soul energy that lifts your spirit, heals your body and removes the dark veil of worries from your mind—if only for a moment; yes, and life is made of moments.
The ancient Proverbs 17:22 of King Solomon indicate that laughter is like a good medicine. Now, a Loma Linda University study of adults in their 60s and 70s, measured their memory and stress levels in groups made to laugh versus groups that were not. The laughing group recalled 115% more than the non-laughing group and showed considerably lower levels of stress causing cortisol in their system!
Laughter lifts you and attracts others to you. “Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.” (Victor Borge). Someone else quipped: Laugh and the world laughs with you. Snore and you sleep alone!
Question: For me, the most dependable and satisfying is spending a few hours with good friends who are naturally funny and telling jokes. What are your best and most dependable sources for good belly laughter?

Laughing is a great stress buster. Spending time with my 7 yrs old grandson always makes me feel happy & alive. He has such a wonderful way of looking at things that bring joy.
When I come home from a long day of work. I like to look at comedy like the brown. I laugh all the fatigue and stress that came with the day is gone , when o don’t do that it takes a long time to fall asleep.
Funny friends and family definitely!!
I recall some years ago I had a massive migraine headache that I could hardly talk. My Dad visited from overseas and decided to take me on a drive. On the way he gave me so many jokes….at first I had to hold my head as it pounded but soon afterward I was laughing so hard, the headache went without me even realizing.
Laughter is definitely great medicine!
I love it Christine. That’s my biggest, best source of laughter too. I recall sitting with friends on a Mandeville hill and Ikey telling us a joke that made my jaw weak…I literally considered that if I should start rolling down this hill, I would be unable to stop myself! (Ikey, that was the one about the elastic baggie Lolololol!)
I usually get a good laugh from watching funny videos and also from my students.
Laughing at oneself (with a friend who can understand the situation) works wonders. Excellent way to deal with work stress.
